Guided Mural Tour with TILT and Mural Arts Philadelphia

Jane Golden (Mural Arts Philadelphia founder and former executive director) and Joan Reilly (former COO of Mural Arts Philadelphia) will conduct a walking tour highlighting specific works from the Eco-Social Realism: Historic Mural Activations exhibition at TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image. This 1.1-mile excursion begins at La Placita Park (1920 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122) in front of Ana Uribe’s mural Tropical Landscape with Waterfall. The route continues to Forest Green by Ras Malik (2321 Emerald Street, Philadelphia, PA 19125) and ends at Diane Keller’s Tropical Landscape (2144 East Arizona Street, Philadelphia, PA 19125). Join photographer Steven CW Taylor of Ubuntu Fine Art Gallery for a guided photo walk through Philadelphia's historic Old City neighborhood. Exploring hidden alleys, centuries-old architecture, and contemporary galleries, participants will discover how photography can reveal the stories embedded in the city's streets and public spaces.  Rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy—"I am because we are"—Steven's approach encourages slowing down, observing with intention, and finding connection through shared experience. The walk emphasizes thoughtful image-making, conversation, and community, inviting photographers of all experience levels to see Old City not only as a historic landmark, but as a living neighborhood shaped by the people who inhabit it.

Founded by photographer Steven CW Taylor, Ubuntu Fine Art Gallery opened in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood in 2021 with the belief that every community deserves access to inspiring art. Fairmount Photo Club, now 190 walks strong, has been teaming up with PhotoLounge to bring community forward monthly photo walks around Philly. The idea is simple: slow down as you walk around and take a little more time to notice what's around you. Sit with a shot a little longer before you take it. These walks have become a genuine way to connect with the community and step outside the noise of daily life, even if just for a Saturday morning.
